Photo Policy

UPLOAD CONDITIONS

Photos for display in the galleries should be sent to the Webmaster as electronic files, via the Submit Photo facility. The following rules apply:

  • You may submit only photos or images that are relevant to the activities of the Society.
  • You warrant that each photo is your property and is not owned by any other person or entity, that it does not violate any law or regulation, nor does it infringe the rights of any person or entity, including but not limited to any copyright or trademark rights and/or rights of privacy or publicity.
  • You may not submit photos that contain objectionable content, including but not limited to nudity, violence, copyrighted material, and other offensive, illegal or inappropriate images.
  • You may not submit photos of children or other minors without explicit parental consent. If any minors appear conspicuously in a photo, you should warrant that you are their mother, father or duly appointed guardian, or that you have the irrevocable permission of their parents or duly appointed guardian(s) to submit the photo concerned.
  • The captions should not disclose the postal addresses of the people in the photos.

The following technical requirements apply to the image files:

Format: The file must be in a .gif, .jpg, .jpeg or .png format, without animation.
Size: The file size must be between 10 kB (minimum size) and 3 MB (maximum size).

Even if a photo meets all of the above conditions, the Webmaster is not obliged to put it on display, nor to explain the reasons for a refusal though this will usually be done. The Society also reserves the right to reject and remove any photo from display on its website, for any reason at any time without prior notice.

While all photos you submit to the Society remain your property and copyright, in submitting them you grant us a license to display them on the Website, in whichever of the galleries we judge to be the most appropriate. At present there are seven galleries, named Trials, Shearing, Sheep, Dogs, Horses, People, and Grounds. We reserve the rights to rename these galleries, to rearrange them, to remove any of them or to create new ones, and to redistribute the photos accordingly.

You understand and acknowledge that you will not have any right of approval over the use made of the photographs and will not receive any compensation as a result. Any photos or images that you submit and which are displayed in the Galleries, or otherwise used by the Society pursuant to the license above, may be credited to you if you so wish; we will not use your name in photo credit without first getting your permission.

DOWNLOAD CONDITIONS

Downloading

The photos displayed on the website are of two kinds:

  • Photos on pages apart from the Galleries; except when otherwise stated, all these photos are the property of the Sheepdog Society.
  • Photos in the Galleries; each such photo is the property of the person who supplied it.

You may make copies of the photos that belong to the Society, and use them subject to the provisions of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license.

You may make copies of photos on display that are not your property, but only for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not distribute such copies to others, whether or not in electronic form and whether or not for a charge or other consideration, without the prior written consent of the owner(s) of the photos. To be put in touch with the owner(s), please contact our Secretary.

Liability

The Society disclaims all responsibility for the consequences of your misuse, in breach of the above conditions, of a photo that another person has had placed on the Website. If the owner of such a photo complains to us about your use of it, and the complaint strikes us as legitimate, we reserve the right to identify you to the person concerned.

Equally, if a photo you have had placed on the Website is downloaded and misused by another person, and you wish to be put in touch with the person concerned, we would normally do so if we know who that person is; however, we are not obliged to do so.

In either of foregoing cases, the Society is not obliged to take part in any discussion, negotiation, dispute, or litigation that may take place between you and the other person concerned, and we would not normally do so.

OTHER CONDITIONS

The Ceiriog Valley Sheepdog Society reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to alter these terms at any time for any reason without prior notice, or to terminate the Photo Submission service, for any reason at any time without prior notice. You may also ask us to remove or delete a photo from display on the website, for any reason at any time, by contacting us; we would not, however, be obliged to comply with this request.
